What is the Opportunity?

The D. E. Shaw group seeks talented individuals with unique perspectives to join their Proprietary Trading Internship. Traders at the D. E. Shaw group are at the core of our discretionary investment strategies. Trader interns will take on complex challenges, deepening their understanding of macroeconomics, investment processes, and trade construction. Interns will gain exposure to the firm’s strategies, process-oriented investment philosophy, and risk management.

Preferred Candidates:

• Candidates with keen problem-solving skills who have a demonstrated interest in financial markets will excel in this role.
• No previous finance experience is necessary.

What are the roles and responsibilities?

Because D.E. Shaw's approach sits at the intersection of finance and technology, you’ll employ a number of technological platforms to analyze market data and make qualitative decisions based on your analyses. You’ll assist with general trading activities, monitoring markets and positions, and analyzing market events.

Additional Info:

• This is a ten-week program that will take place in New York and is expected to run from June to August 2025.
• The expected monthly base salary for this position is $15,000. The compensation package includes travel to and from the internship, overtime for all hours worked over 40 per week, a sign-on bonus, and choice of corporate housing or a summer housing allowance.
